The stage was set for a repeat of last season's upset, when Notre Dame stopped Navy in the mud 20-12. Snow was falling, the half-time score was 7-7, and Navy's Roger Staubach had completed only one pass. But then the favored (by four points) Middies caught fire. Staubach hit on 9 of 15 passes for 91 yds. and two touchdowns; Fullback Pat Donnelly broke loose for 127 yds. And the No. 4-ranked Middies romped to a 35-14 victory. Other scores:
