Letting his fins down, Clare Briggs, Chrysler
Corp. vice president, last week issued some plain talk on what is wrong
with the auto business. "Many salesmen don't know how to sell," he
said, auto service is bad, and the quality of cars is "not as good as
ten years ago." The auto industry, admitted Briggs, "has treated the
public badly, to say it mildly."
