AUTOS: Help for Dealers

The 10,000 members of the National Automobile Dealers Association who gathered for their annual convention in Washington last week were in a mood to grumble—and got some professional help. They applauded when Democratic Senator Joseph C. O'Mahoney, who last year probed the affairs of General Motors Corp., cried that "manufacturers have contrived to put themselves in an impregnable position, while the dealer is at their mercy."
