For the first time in U.S. history, Congress has more Roman Catholics in its membership than any other religious group. A tabulation released by the Library of Congress listed 103 Roman Catholic Congressmen (91 in the House and twelve in the Senate), of whom 88 are Democrats and 15 Republicans. This represents an increase of eight over the 95 Catholics in the last Congress.
