Louisiana State wiped out Tulane 62-0, accepted a bid to New Orleans' Sugar Bowl. Texas Christian dumped Rice 21-10, got the host spot in Dallas' Cotton Bowl. Syracuse had trouble beating West Virginia 15-12, was invited anyway to face Oklahoma in Miami's Orange Bowl. TIME'S Top Ten:
