¶ Gift of the Week: $15 million set aside by the Ford Foundation as a "Fund for the Republic." Headed by Paul G. Hoffman, retiring president of the foundation fund will sponsor studies of restrictions and assaults on academic freedom due process and equal protection under law, protection of minority rights, censorship, boycotting and blacklisting by private groups, and guilt by association, said the fund's directors: "We see a pressing need for a clear statement in contemporary terms of the legacy of American liberty.
