Britain is cracking down on trade with
the enemy. Prodded by the U.S., the British government last week
invoked World War II defense statutes to requisition two nearly
completed 7,600-ton tankers which Bartram & Sons shipyard had
contracted in 1949 to build for Red Poland. The Poles have already paid
most of the purchase price. Said the British Foreign Office: Poland
will get her money back.
