¶ In Philadelphia, Archbishop John O'Hara, in a pastoral letter, suggested to the Roman Catholics of his diocese that they give up radio & TV for Lent: "These inventions can be for the glory of God, but they may also be a means of destroying both our spiritual and intellectual life. Disconnect your set for a week and then take an honest appraisal. Have you missed anything worthwhile?"
