Scared Stiff (Hal Wallis; Paramount) is a shrill blend of spooks and slapstick set on a mysterious tropical island. While trying to help Heiress Lizabeth Scott take possession of the island, Cabaret Performers Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis get tangled up with treasure-hunting mobsters and perambulating zombies. When he is not being locked in a trunk or imprisoned in a haunted castle's torture chamber, Jerry also imitates Carmen Miranda, and Dean sings (I Don't Care If the Sun Don't Shine, San Domingo). Interesting bit players: Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. For Comedian Hope, Scared Stiff must seem like very old stuff....
