In Washington, Chief Justice Fred Vinson, who swore in three new aides for the Attorney General, explained why he postponed the ceremony for 30 minutes: the twelve-year-old son of one of the new aides was scheduled to play with his school basketball team and also wanted to see his father take the oath.
