Sport: No. 59 & No. 60

With no games to write about, the Baseball Writers of America made news of their own by electing two more players to the Hall of Fame. The newest immortals (No. 59 and No. 60) :

MEL OTT, onetime outfielder for the New York Giants, who hit more homers (511) than anybody else in National League history.

JIMMY FOXX, onetime first baseman for the Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Sox, who hit more homers (534) than anybody but Babe Ruth.

Among those who failed to get the necessary votes (170), and still have to be content with unofficial immortality: Paul Waner (162 votes), Harry Heilmann...
