Argentina signed an agreement in Washington last week to buy two U.S. warships, the 10,000-ton light cruisers Phoenix and Boise. Classed as surplus, the two ships would cost Argentina only about 10% of their original price ($16-$18 million each), plus the expenses of reconditioning. The total bill: about $7,800,000.
