The weekly editor in Republic, Wash, (pop. 1,000) decided it wasn't fair to keep the news from his readers. He put it right out on the front page:

"Ken R. Kuehl, editor and publisher of the News-Miner, spent Monday night in Ferry County's finest hotel and Tuesday morning paid a fine of $10 plus $2.50 costs for being drunk and disorderly."
