LOUISIANA Huey Hoisted

In Baton Rouge last week, before the 33-story capitol he built, a bold, 14-ft. statue of Huey P. Long was hoisted into place over his grave. Thus fixed in imperishable bronze, the Kingfish stood staring, his expression suffused with a tenderness more than lifelike, over the Old Campus, Baton Rouge, the Mississippi River, and a good part of the State he had dominated. To erect the statue, the recently defeated, Long-machined legislature (which goes out of office next month) appropriated $50,000. A campaign for contributions had brought in $75.
