TRANSPORT: Truck Terminal

Two-thirds of all the merchandise freight that enters and leaves Manhattan is carried by trucks. After studying this amazing statistic, and pondering the truck-jammed, gasoline-smelling streets of Manhattan, the Port of New York Authority announced plans for a $2,500,000 Union Motor Truck Terminal.

The Terminal, covering a solid city block, will be built near the Manhattan end of the Holland Tunnel as soon as construction materials are available.
