Senator Arthur Vandenberg of Michigan last week told Collier's readers "Why I Am for MacArthur." He wrote: MacArthur "is granite in the face of duty . . . a composite of all our necessities. . . . [Mr. Roosevelt] intends to run primarily as our commander in chief. . . . Should we not offer the people a better commander in chief ? . . ."
