Religion: Roman Relief

^ Pope Pius XII gave up his customary summer rest in his Alban Hills villa of Castel Gandolfo, but moved into the head gardener's cottage in the Vatican gardens in hope of finding relief from the Roman heat.

^ A survey of car use in six States from Georgia to Oregon by the Automobile Manufacturers Association showed that one car out of four is driven to church on Sunday. Average length of the round trip: 5.1 miles.
