In Mineola, L. I. last year Mrs. Lucy Steele Kirk, Christian Scientist, sued George Cisler for $10,000 for damages from an automobile accident. A jury found for the defendant because Supreme Court Justice Paul Bonynge charged it solemnly to ponder whether, to a follower of Mary Baker Eddy, injuries and pains could be real (TIME, June 25).
