¶ Keith Brown of Yale, in the last event on the program, set a new world's pole-vault record—14 ft. 5⅛ in. (Old record: 14 ft. 4⅜ in., made by Southern California's Bill Graber in 1932.)

¶ Maine's little Bates College sent two hammer-throwers. They (Anton Kishon and Lawrence Johnson) placed first and second. Kishon placed third in the discus throw that gave Bates a total of 12 points, third highest at the meet.
