Roving the seas, three battle cruisers (San Francisco, Tuscaloosa, and Quincy) steamed southward to round Cape Horn and the South Americas, where Franklin Roosevelt proposes if need be to meet "force with force." Laid up for treatment, the U.S.S. West Virginia was anchored off Brooklyn Navy Yard, where naval mechanics replaced a 16-inch gun which cracked during maneuvers in the Caribbean last month.
