At Harvard University, Freshman David ("Kentucky") Mitchell topped off his dinner with 18 successive helpings of ice cream, (twelve strawberry, six vanilla), next morning went out and won a crosscountry running trial. Said he: "It was nothing. I just kept on eating." Former record at the Harvard Union (clubhouse) was eleven ice creams.

Birthday

In Buffalo. N. Y., Big Frank, elephant at the city zoo, was given a birthday party: with one swing of his trunk he engulfed a frosted birthday cake, packed it down with 50 Ibs. of hay. carrots, beets, as a special postprandial treat was permitted to chew
