In Manhattan, Mrs. May Birn, 42, died of bloodpoisoning contracted after an accident. The accident: while both slept, her finger strayed into her husband's mouth, he bit it.


At Ottawa, Ill., George Jakubsen, railroad crossing watchman, drew his life savings, $1,460. from a bank which he was afraid would fail, hid it. Later he looked for the money, could not find it. He brooded, finally killed himself with poison. When officers searched his effects they found the $1,460 between the leaves of a book.
