National Affairs: Perjury

Col. Robt. Wright Stewart, chairman of the board of Standard Oil Co. of Indiana, was last week indicted by the Federal Grand Jury of Washington, D. C., for perjury, in connection with his testimony before the Senate Teapot Dome Committee. The maximum penalty for perjury is five years in jail and a $2,000 fine. Col. Stewart was recently acquitted of contempt before the same Senate committee (TIME, June 25).
