Samuel Emory Thomason, onetime general manager of the Chicago Tribune, purchased last week for some $2,000,000 the Chicago Daily Journal, oldest newspaper in Chicago (founded in 1844). Associated with him in the purchase was John Stewart Bryan, handsome publisher of the Richmond, Va., News-Leader. The late John C. Eastman had willed the Daily Journal to five employes before his death in 1925.
