Nation: Protest Season on the Campus

EVEN as it widened the war in Southeast Asia, the Nixon Administration chose to further estrange itself from the nation's campuses. Vice President Spiro Agnew, speaking to Republicans in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., unleashed another blunderbuss attack on colleges as "circus tents or psychiatric centers for overprivileged, under-disciplined, irresponsible children of the well-to-do blase permissivists" (see box, following page).
