United Nations: Cairo, Anyone?

After surveying 26 of the world's major cities, the United Nations discovered what foreign visitors have suspected for a long time—New York is an expensive place to live. Pegging New York at 100 on a comparative scale, the U.N. found only two cities more expensive.
