The workingman may have more leisure time, but his boss is working longer hours than ever. That is the conclusion of a survey made by the Chase Manhattan Bank and reported last week in its bimonthly Business in Brief. Since World War II, the average worker has gained an additional 155 hours a year in time-off, now works a 40-hour week or less. On the other hand, 40% of all managers, executives and proprietors put in more than 48 hours a week on the job, usually carry home work in their attache cases.
