In Cyprus the British issued two casualty lists. The first showed a total of 32 British and French officers and men killed in the Port Said fighting. The second listed 32 Britons and Cypriots killed in the same periodon Cyprus. Never since the terrorist EOKA, the Greek Cypriot underground, started its campaign of violence 18 months ago had so much blood been shed in so short a time.
