¶ Robert Bernerd Anderson, 45, who resigned recently as U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense (TIME, July 25), became president of Ventures Ltd., giant Canadian holding company with interests (mostly mining) scattered over five continents. He succeeds Thayer Lindsley, Ventures' founder, who becomes board chairman. Texas-born Lawyer Anderson will help push the company in a new direction. It will slow down on expanding its holdings, concentrate on developing them.
