The case of the poisoned flounder, in which a three-year-old Haddon Heights, N.J. boy died of sodium-nitrite poisoning (TIME, April 6), had a sequel last week. Daniel DiOrio, 50, president of Philadelphia's Universal Seafood Co., offered no defense when charged in U.S. District Court with having used the sodium nitrite on fish with intent to mislead and defraud. Judge Thomas C. Egan sentenced him to a month in prison, with three years on probation, fined him $2,500.
