"Elections," said independent India's one and only Prime Minister, "are not my profession. My profession is to preach the unity of India and love between all Indians." But this week, as the first of India's 193 million eligible voters went to the polls for the second general election in the nation's history, Jawaharlal Nehru was right there in the middle of the fun, electioneering to beat the band. "I shouldn't be here at all," he said, jauntily preparing to address still another crowd of worshiping voters.
