Medicine: Let Us Now Praise Dieters

Dieters may be hard to live with, but they must be coddled. Compliments and praise for anybody who is dieting to lose weight are an important factor in the success of the campaign, Dr. Janns Groen of Amsterdam told a dietetics meeting in Rome. He cited the case of a woman who slimmed down from 255 to 169 lbs. with the help of praise and attention while in hospital, but ballooned back to 230 after her friends outside took her hard-won achievement too much for granted.
