Blowproof Tire. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is test-marketing a nylon cord tire within a tire that it says can be driven about 250 miles after a puncture or blowout bad enough to slash the casing. The tire has two casingsĀinner and outerĀeach with an independent air supply. If the outer casing is punctured, the built-in-spare inner casing keeps the tire inflated. Goodyear hopes its Captive-Air tire will replace the tubeless tire, which turns punctures into slow leaks and allows a safe but quick stop. Price: 40%-60% more than standard tubeless tires.
