Peru's General Manuel Odria, onetime subdirector of his country's War College, held a soldierly reunion this week in Lima with Venezuela's Colonel Marcos Pérez Jiménez, one of his best students back in the early '40s. Pérez Jiménez revisited Peru with the prestige of an old grad who made good: he is the dictatorial President of Venezuela (TIME, Feb. 28).
