THE BALKANS: No Peeking

A year ago Greece, Yugoslavia and Turkey—long traditional enemies—signed a treaty pledging themselves to unite in common defense against aggression. The treaty did not state who was to protect each of the partners from the other two. Last week Yugoslav George Katradjieff stood trial before a Greek court-martial, accused of collecting Greek military intelligence for Yugoslavia. Verdict: guilty.

Sentence: death by firing squad.
