National Affairs: Still Growing

Growing U.S. strength is not in arms alone. Last week Westinghouse Electric announced that it would spend $296 million on expansion in the next three years (see BUSINESS). By 1954, Westinghouse, in terms of total assets, will be about five times as big as it was in 1940, after 54 years of growth.

The day after Westinghouse, General Electric announced a $450 million expansion program of its own.
