When the Washington Star juggled its comic strips recently to make room for a new one, the editors worried not a bit about dropping an odd little strip from the top of the page. Its name: Pogo. But the reaction was sharp & swift. In came a letter signed by 18 members of the "Pogo Protective League" demanding that the strip "be returned to its rightfully superior position" lest "indignant readers everywhere rise up in armed might to crush this infamy."
