RUMANIA: Into the Sunlight

"Beautiful Rumania, formerly sad and enslaved, marches confidently into the sunlight of the future . . ."

So wrote Communist Mike Gold in last Sunday's issue of Manhattan's Daily Worker. The article also paid touching tribute to Rumania's Red Ana Pauker as "a mature, motherly woman with greying hair set in a youthful bob. She has the finest and-most luminous brown eyes . . ." By way of illustration, the Worker ran a drawing of Comrade Pauker looking tender, handsome and soulful.
