Education: Report Card

¶ On the tenth anniversary of the G.I. Bill, the Veterans Administration added up some figures on just how far its educational benefits have spread. Total number of veterans who have received some sort of training on campus, job or farm: more than 8,000,000. Cost: $15.3 billion. ¶ Though it already admits Negroes to its graduate schools, the University of Maryland decided to fling its gates wide. Henceforth, said the regents in a unanimous decision, the university will take in Negro undergraduates as well.
