Appointed by Wyoming's Republican Governor C. J. Rogers to fill the unexpired term of Democrat Lester Callaway Hunt, who shot himself to death last fortnight (TIME, June 28), Republican National Committeeman Crippa restored the G.O.P. to a numerical majority in the Senate.
