Education: Drug Poll

New York City's Superintendent of Schools William Jansen had some news that was apparently intended to be reassuring. After a poll of his junior and senior high-school principals, he reported: there are only 154 known cases of drug addiction in the city's schools (including 22 girls), and 35 suspected cases. Rate of addiction: one in 2,000 students.
