The Defense Department last week reported 1,263 more U.S. battle casualties in Korea, bringing the total in eleven months of war to 65,617. The report was the first to include casualties suffered in the Chinese offensive. The breakdown:

Total casualties by services: Army, 54,523; Marine Corps, 9,841; Navy, 691; Air Force, 562.
