The newest star on the U.S. tennis horizon is a 20-year-old Cincinnati boy named Marion Anthony (Tony) Trabert. Already this year he has twice beaten the U.S. champion, Art Larsenonce on clay (in the final of the National Clay Court championship) and last week at Southampton, on grass, the more significant surface (because all top tournaments are played on grass courts). Said Frank Shields, the non-playing Davis Cup captain : "If Trabert progresses as much during the next four weeks, he's going to be a world beater. He whips a cross court shot very much like Don Budge's great shot."
