National Affairs: U.S. WAR CASUALTIES

The Defense Department last week reported 969 more U.S. casualties in Korea, bringing the total for ten months of war to 61,744. Its figures do not include the current Chinese offensive. The breakdown:

DEAD 10,567

WOUNDED 40,341

MISSING 10,836

Total casualties by services: Army, 51,487; Marines, 9,071; Navy, 655; Air Force, 531.
