This week the New York Times (circ. 537,216) raised its weekday price
from 3¢ to 5¢, the same as all other full-sized Manhattan newspapers.
Reason: rising costs. Before it did so, the good, grey Times had
cautiously tested the new price for three months in the suburbs, found
no slump in circulation.
