Expensive ($1,400), Episcopal St. Paul's School, which is strong on hockey and respectability, has been headed by a churchman ever since its founding in 1855. Last week the trustees of the Concord (N.H.) prep school broke precedent by picking a layman to succeed the Right Rev. Norman B. Nash, now Bishop of Massachusetts. The new (and sixth) rector: Henry Crocker Kittredge, 57, historian of Cape Cod, self-styled spare-time beachcomber, son of Harvard's late, great Shakespearean Scholar George Lyman ("Kitty") Kittredge.
