The Press: My Day Goes On

For the first time since it started (in 1935), Eleanor Roosevelt's column, "My Day," failed to appear in 74 U.S. papers last week. Her column had only lapsed, not stopped, said United Feature's General Manager George A. Carlin. He recently renewed Mrs. Roosevelt's contract until 1950, to run regardless of whether she was still First Lady. Added Carlin: from now on, Mrs. Roosevelt can speak more freely on political matters.
