International: As a Christian Soldier

The Pope had set up a spiritual bulwark against communism. Two days later at The Hague, Bible-quoting Anglican Field Marshal Viscount Montgomery, Western Union's military chief, had his say:

"Who is the enemy who is challenging Western civilization and threatening out way of life? The enemy is communism, which is a religion and is antiChristian. As a Christian soldier, I declare myself an enemy of communism and all it stands for.

"It is my view that the nations of the West are today at war with communism ... It is possible that this struggle ....
