For using the mails to defraud, Mayor James Michael Curley of Boston was sentenced this week to serve six to 18 months in prison, pay a $1,000 fine. The Mayor, who is also a Massachusetts Congressman, and an old hand at dodging the rap, quailed: "I have never begged for mercy in my life. ... I don't do it now. But I do ask for justice." But he wasn't beaten yet—until he has taken a Supreme Court appeal, he will remain on hand to help govern his town & country.
