The Dominion Bureau of Statistics spread open a brand-new set of account books and disclosed that the national product* had jumped over 100% from $5,483,000,000 in 1939 to a thumping $11,727,000,000 in 1944. The U.S. national product rose from $88 billion to $199 billion, Britain's from $24 billion to $40 billion.
*Total value of goods and services for the country as a whole.
